Outlook Express is an email client that allows you to send and receive email from your Windows based computer. Outlook Express also includes an address book to help organize your contacts.
Outlook Express 6 is included free with all versions of Microsoft Windows up to Windows XP. Windows Vista includes an updated version of Outlook Express called Windows Mail.
The following instructions explain how to set up Outlook Express 6. The process usually takes about 10 minutes.

Open Outlook Express
To open Outlook Express in Windows XP, open the "Start" menu, select "All Programs", then look for the following icon toward the end of the list. Additionally, you can usually find Outlook Express in the column directly above the "Start" button.

Open the "Tools" Menu, then select "Accounts..."

Click the "Add" button, then select "Mail"

Enter a Display Name, then click "Next"
When you send an e-mail, your friends will see your "Display Name" in the "From" field of the e-mail and know right away that it's from you. You can enter anything you want here, but usually you'll want to enter your first and last name, or the name and department of your company.

Enter Your Email Address, then click "Next"

Enter Email Server information, then click "Next"
My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
Incoming mail server: mail.destinyone.net
Outgoing mail (SMTP)server: smtp.destinyone.net
Tip: You can Copy and Paste the server information instead of typing.

Enter your Logon Information, then click "Next"
Enter your full email address in the "Account name" field, and your previously select password in the "Password" field. Unlike the default, your Account name is your full email address.
Example: johnsmith@destinyone.net

Setup Is Almost Complete
On this screen, you are informed that Setup is Complete. Well, almost. For security purposes, we have one more setting to make, plus a couple of options for your convenience.
Click "Finish", then leave the "Internet Accounts" window open.

Set Additional Account Properties
After clicking "Finish" in the last step, you should see the "Internet Accounts" window. If you've already closed the window, you can reopen it by opening the "Tools" Menu, then selecting "Accounts...".
Click "mail.destinyone.net" once, then select "Properties".

Rename Account, then click "Apply" (Optional)
Since we are already on this screen, we recommend that you change your Outlook Express Mail Account name to match your email address. Using the server name (the default) can be confusing if one day you decide to get a second email account.
This step is completely optional. If you choose to skip this step, don't click anything. Simply go to the next step (which is required).
Enter your full email address where you see the text "mail.destinyone.net".

Set Server Options, then click "Apply"
Click the "Servers" tab, found just to the right of the "General" tab at the top of the window.
Make sure that "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" is NOT checked.
Make sure that "My server requires authentication" IS checked.
Click "Apply".

Outlook Express Setup Is Complete!
To close all windows, click "OK", then "Close".
You can now start using Outlook Express!
